What is Whole body Cryotherapy?

The procedure consists of exposing the body to extreme temperatures, to as low as -196c for three minutes, however the optimal temperatures for the maximum benefits is -120c to -140c. These low temperatures are achieved thanks to the cold vapour from liquid nitrogen that is released into the cryo chamber.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do treatments take?
A session last between 15-20 minutes, with the time in the Whole Body Cryotherapy chamber typically lasting for 3 minutes. Although we generally start clients out with a taster session with 2 minutes in the cryo chamber.
Why only 3 mins?
According to research there is no perceived benefit of staying in the chamber any longer than 3 minutes.
What Temperature?
What temperature: A normal session will see temperatures range from -120˚C to -140˚C, although it is possible to go even lower, research has shown there is no added benefit, exceeding -140˚C.
Does it Hurt?
No - despite the very cold temperatures there is no feelings of pain. Infact, the opposite is felt as the body releases endorphins, the chemical responsible for happiness.
Who is it suitable for?
Cryotherapy sessions are suitable for everyone but there is some exceptions such as pregancy, high blood pressure, unstable coronary syndrome, heart arrhythmia, DVT, any other forms of thrombosis, cerebal issues, seizures, cancer, urinary tract diseases, lung disorders, infections and allergies to cold.
How many treatments will I need?
We typically recommened our clients to take at least 4 sessions to maximise their benefits.
What should I wear?
Men: Shorts/underwear, (preferably above ankle). Woman: Swim wear/sports bra/underwear (Bra no metal wire)
General precautions
Remove piercings below neckline Socks (preferably above the ankle). Cryotherapy should not be performed directly after exercise (perspiration can freeze) No moisturising creams
